My eyes got irritated the other night, because some insect flew into my eye and I was instantly in pain. So, I ran into the kitchen sink, rinsed it with water and got that insect out in my eye. It was around midnight and I've got nowhere to go or even ask somebody at home because everybody's already dozed off for the night. I just waited until I fell asleep and then woke up the next day with irritated eye. I went to the office to work but only to find it uncomfortable working in-front of the computer working with eye discharge every now and then. I ended up working undertime yesterday and decided to go to a doctor for a consultation with my eye condition.
I went to Polymedic Medical Plaza which is just few hundred meters away from our house. I went directly to the HMO department because I planned to use my HMO card. I waited for few more minutes because there are other patients already lined up for their priority numbers to be called. Finally, my number was called and presented my HMO card to the officer in-charged and tell her that I wanted to see an EENT specialist for my eye irritation. But she said that their EENT specialist is not around on Wednesday and she asked me to go to their Velez branch. It was already 3PM, so I hailed a taxi and went to Polymedic Velez, went directly to HMO officer and asked if there's EENT specialist available. She said yes and processed my HMO card, I signed the form and she told me to go to the doctor's clinic on the second floor of the building. Only for me to find out that the doctor was not around, I asked an assistant and she said to go to another room for another EENT specialist but when I got there, the doctor was already out. She said to go to the other room, an Ophthalmologist clinic. I went inside and another assistant approached me that the Ophthalmologist was already out. I went back to the HMO department to tell her that there are no EENT Specialist available. She said, that if that's the case, then they don't have any available as of that afternoon. So, I just let her cancel the processing of my HMO for consultation.
Because I really want to see an specialist that time, I went to Medical Center, headed directly to the HMO department asked if there's really an EENT specialist available that is not yet out of duty. The officer-in-charge said yes, so I gave her my HMO card and processed it for awhile, she let me signed the form and gave me direction to an EENT clinic at the second floor. Yes! at last the doctor is available. I gave the form to an assistant and let me fill-up a patient's form for some particular information, since it was my first visit on that particular clinic, finished it and passed it to her and she let me sit for awhile because there are already few patients lined-up for consultation that time. Another idle waiting moment until around 4-5 patients, my name was called. I was so excited to see the doctor because I really want my irritated eye to get well as soon as possible because it was really uncomfortable.
So, I was already inside the clinic the doctor let me sit to a chair near a microscope apparatus for the eye examination. What happened next is this Facebook Status I posted after that clinic visit: https://web.facebook.com/robstroy/posts/10209413636116964
That consultation just ended in around 3-4 minutes and he just prescribed a drops medication for my eye. That's it and he got paid 500 pesos for that with my HMO company???
Can, you feel what I feel? It is like I was robbed of my time, efforts, rights and everything. The least I expected from a doctor is to be rude to their patients. I looked up doctors as comforting with their patients in every possible way. I was so disappointed!
If only I, have subscribed to KonsultaMD, I could've just called the hotline number and save myself from disappointments and from the inconvenience I have to go though that day by visiting a clinic/hospital for my eye irritation.
The Marketing Director of Global TeleHealth, Inc., gave me 3 months FREE KonsultaMD subscription and I will use this not only to get away from rude and arrogant doctors, but also for me and my family's convenience when it comes to health consultation. You don't have to go to a clinic or hospital and go through an ordeal like I have experienced by transferring from one hospital/clinic to another and ended up with a very poor service.
With KonsultaMD, the Marketing Director said rest assured that you are talking to a licensed doctor and they are very caring to the patients calling for consultation, because the calls are recorded for quality control. It is like a call center with real professional doctors with PRC license that are taking your calls. You can ask anything you want about health, your status and everything, without hesitation and they will not hesitate to answer you in a polite manner.

KonsultaMD Health Hotline: Bringing medical information closer to the people
Self-medication is a common practice in the Philippines where a large percentage of the population relies on folk medicines, unfounded advice from family and friends, traditional cures, or even the internet instead of going to a doctor or medical practitioner.
This behavior is a result of lack of experienced healthcare professionals in the country in addition to under-resourced public hospitals, poor health infrastructure, limited accessibility , and high cost of medical consultation. Currently, the Philippines only has about three (3) doctors for every 100,000 patients in rural areas and seven doctors for every 100,000 patients in urban areas.
Thus, KonsultaMD was created to bring positive change to the Philippine Healthcare industry with its 24/7 health hotline designed to make medical information more accessible, efficient, and affordable to majority of Filipinos. KonsultaMD is being operated by Global Telehealth, Inc., an affiliate of leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom and Salud Interactiva, a leader in the health holine space in Mexico.
KonsultaMD addresses two of nine areas in the healthcare spectrum identified by a global consultancy and research firm as having the biggest potential for disruption and transformation - "care anytime, anywhere" and "cost of care/operation innovations."
With KonsultaMD, Filipinos from all walks of life especially those at the base of the pyramid, will have access to a reliable source of medical information anytime they want and wherever they are in the country without spending a lot of time and money.
"We are addressing the pain points in Philippine health care by pulling together a team of skilled and licensed Filipino doctors who are readily available to provide medical assessment, basic healthcare and permissible medication over the phone. Not only do we feel that the local market is ready for this kind of service, we feel there is a great need for it considering the low doctor to patients ratio in the country," said Maridol Ylanan, CEO of Global Telehealth, Inc.
KonsultaMD provides straightforward help with health and medical-related questions. This includes medical information to common but important questions on pregnancy, infant and/or toddler care, fever and other general ailments, signs and symptoms, diet, and other concerns.
However, KonsultaMD does not replace face-to-face interaction between doctors and patients but only serves as a means of interim care so that the public can have immediate and affordable medical attention.
KonsultaMD is available to Globe and TM customers at affordable subscription plans. Globe Postpaid customers only need to pay a subscription fee of Php150 per month which can be used by up to four additional household members. "Unsa ba to nga doctor oi! Animal! Murag dili man maminaw kung mag storya ko. Gabarahon ta. Nag pa check up ko sa mata kay napuling ko with some kind of insect.
While gi tan-aw niya akong mata sa microscope, i said "murag naa diha sa right cor..." Wala pa ko nahuman ni tubag naman dayon siya ug "Ayaw ko ilara dong kay klaro kaayo dinhi sa microscope! Hayag kaayo." Lahi ug tone sa iyang voice ba. He said wala daw siya nakita nga foreign object sa akong mata.
So i said, "basin pinaakan lang siguro to sa insekto akong nakita nga ga puti doc no?" And he instantly answered, "Ambot!"
I can sensed an arrogant behavior right there, so I shut up!
Animal! Wala lang jud ko giganahi sa approach! Gi atay nga doctor! Dawat limpyo ang animas! Pwe!"
